BOWEN OUTRIGGERS

The original Bowen Outrigger Canoe Club was founded in 1989 and quickly grew into one of the ten largest clubs in Australia at the time. Previous locations are the same locations South Sea Outriggers paddle from including Grays Bay, Queens Beach and Front Beach. The original Bowen Outrigger Canoe Club became a pinnacle in junior sport height, and had over 90 junior members.

National Titles and Competitions

Bowen proudly hosted the 1992 Australian National Titles at Queens Beach. Bowen crews went on to win multiple national titles, particularly in the junior divisions. I spent the first ten years of my paddling life here, year after year, and Bowen played a huge role in shaping who I am today — both as a person and as a paddler.
